The distribution of wealth is unbalanced, thats obvious when glancing at the numbers. Political influence and legislation doesn't necessarily favor the rich (in general terms), but the market definately does (not that there's anything wrong with that, its just the way it is). I'm not saying it has to be balanced, I'm saying that policy should designed to influence the balance between classes.
You mentioned the need for greater structure. More structure means better management. Better management means more funds. More funds means higher taxes.

I am a vegitarian.
The man who bloodies his hands I believe has the capacity for MUCH more respect for the life he is taking. I think generally speaking, society has no respect for the life that gives us sustainance. We call fat people we don't like cows, we call cops we don't like pigs, we call wimps we don't like chickens. There is no respect.
Hunter's have proven to be valued stewards of the environment. The have begun to align with environmental organizations in a last ditch effort to conserve the dwindling natural lands still left. With proper land management, they play a vital role in helping keep balance (since we have all but eradicated the land's natural predators).
I am a vegitarian. Eating meat runs in direct conflict with the respect I have for God's creations.

If, like you stated, population is the problem with just over 6 billion people, what are we going to do, better yet what are your children going to do, in 2050 when population is expected to be 9-11 billion? We are sitting here denying or giving excuses for not doing something about what's going on today and our kids are going to be left wondering how the hell we didn't see it coming. Population is the problem and it will double in our lifetime and the majority of the population is willing to sacrifice nothing. We need to start to implement sustainable practices now before it is too late. If that means cutting our meat consumption in half, then we should do it.

When they mention human misery, the are referring to our kids. This is only one example of the concerns our scientific community have. This was written 16 years ago and stewardship has only gotten worse.

I get gotten a head to toe physical once a year for the past 6 years with my job. Every year the doctors tell me that whatever I'm doing, keep doing it. They don't even question whether I eat meat or not. I take no vitamin supplements what-so-ever and year after year my blood work comes back flawless. No meat, no fish, not 1 bite. Meanwhile, my fellow meat-eaters are constantly struggling with proper diet, cholesterol and weight gain.

Wholeness / Seperateness
Wholeness is as much of an illusion as seperateness. The recognition of wholeness requires, in the least, the contemplation of there being a "seperate", for without seperation the definition of something being or becoming whole is incomplete. Therefore, because God knows what it is to be One and is seeking the experience of being seperate, our goal as being on a spiritual path would be twofold. First, we become enlightened to a point where we can recognize that there is a One who is complete and whole, and second is to recognize that you were created because this One desires the experience of being incomplete and partial.
In the creative process (the process which attempts to bring unique experiences about, the process of seperation and reflection) I would think the goal is to have UNIQUE ongoing experiences of being "other" in order to experience and reflect on "self" in an attempt to know yourself and therefore know God (your reflection is God's reflection of God-self in an attempt to know himself and therefore know You. You, in your uniqueness and wholeness are a microcosm of God pursuing self discovery, self discovery being the method in which God is experiencing himself through duality and seperateness, which are the tools you are using to discover your true self).
The danger is in going too far one way or the other. The game is the play between polarity, between opposites. Remove an opposite and reflection and experience falls away, creation ceases to exist.
It is all about creation, the experience of that creation, reflection of the experience of that creation, the recognition of the gift to God this experience is in his/your journey of self discovery, and finally, the role that "gift of reflection" of the experience of that creation plays in bringing about more creation, which in turn creates new experience, which creates new reflection, which creates new gifts, which creates more self discovery, which creates new creation, which creates new experience, which creates new reflection, which creates new gifts, which creates more self

The characteristics of a graduated ego may be seen transformed and seemlessly incorporated with other forms of definition of self and group, making it difficult to recognize there's an ego in there at all (even though there is).
As a society, we currently are compartmentalizing attributes of the human psyche, ego (service to self) being one of those attributes. What we find with a transformed ego is not the elimination or neutralization or death of the attributes of any of these compartments (one of them being the ego), but the elimination or neutralizaton or death of the walls between compartments. We find that the percieved negative qualities of the ego, such as service to self, isolation, individualization, seperation, and the dualistic nature of ego, can be put to good use when it is combined with service to others, cooperation, compromise, inclusion, and the principles of unity, etc. The lines or compartments start to become blurred: "in my wanting to help or even save a stranger even if it means the sacrifice of me... is this just ego-gratification, or is it the disolving of ego, I can no longer tell the difference, they are becoming one-in-the-same." It is not the death of the ego, but the evolution of it.
In your path towards service-to-others, stop trying to define the ego in its present definition.
Maybe we are truly graduated when we recognize that service-to-others and service-to-self are one-in-the-same.
Everything good that I do for the group (service-to-others) is good for me (service-to-self).
Don't forget, EVERYTHING is a microcosm of God, a piece of God that contains the whole of God. Everything good that I do for the group (for God) is good for me (for God).

I'm voting Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. I'm voting Republican because I own a gun, and to increase local taxes in order to put more cops in my neighborhood, or to give those cops a decent salary is unnecessary. I can do it myself!

Reigning King of the Modern World
Materialism/Consumerism has succeeded as becoming the reigning king of the modern world. Almost all action that mankind does is measured in some means by this intangible creation. Though mankind claims to be concerned with the well being of other creatures he shares this planet with, this concern falls very, very short of the power material wealth and its measuring ugly-stick has over it.
It is not necessary to destroy or eliminate this material mindset in order for us to become an evolved species. WE MUST BEGIN TO SEE LIFE AS THE ULTIMATE MEASURING STICK UPON WHICH ALL OUR ACTIONS ARE MEASURED. If materialism falls a short second, no matter, life reigns. Life, no matter how small and insignificant has found its place in creation and deserves at least respect. THIS MINDSET WILL NOT BE THE END OF US, THE OTHER EVENTUALLY WILL.
Choose to view the universe as spiritually void, rock hurling, accidental scar on an otherwise empty, black backdrop. Or see it as a spiritual venture through the depths of a divine, wonderful, mysterious, eternal, loving, compassionate process. You do have a choice, he’ll grant you that. I can tell you this, the experience of life becomes an amazing, incredibly insane thrill ride, a never-ending story that forever remains wrapped in mystery and passion.
Those of you who see the this journey as unconsious rocks hurling through an unconscious universe are really missing out! And if you claim it to be an intelligent, conscious creation, live the part.

Should you become a vegetarian?
Becoming a vegetarian stems for the most part as a result of a spiritual quest by an individual or a society who decides to stop eating meat. Progression of spirit NEVER involves BECOMING a meat eater. So, we can safely assume that consideration and implementation of becoming a non-meat eater is positive spiritual progression. As people on a spiritual path, becoming vegetarian is an unavoidable eventuality. Therefore, the sooner the better!
Now, the decision to become a vegetarian comes to the individual by two ways, one is from the IDEA that becoming a vegetarian will progress you spiritually (which is true), or the REALIZATION during your spiritual quest that you have no choice in the matter. If you are at a stage where the IDEA of it will progress you, there is some, or alot, of struggle with the task. If you are at a spiritual stage where you have come to the REALIZATION that there is no choice, then there is no conflict and no effort is involved.
I had no choice. Eating meat conflicts in totality with my evolution of spirit. The living world has become my bretheren, and I will not commit to the extraordinary Karmic debt for satisfying the illusion that I have a desire for meat.
As a spiritual being on a spiritual path, you have no choice. Concerning becoming a non-meat eater: you are on your path and you are nearing that crossing. Soon, you will not be considering this an option, for it won't be an option. We are all on our chosen path and whether you decide to become a vegetarian now, or in your future, it is inevitable, and I am here today to tell you to let it go. No guilt, no question, no right or wrong, no desire, just a gentle letting go. Your family may not understand, and it shouldn't be forced upon them. You are there to illustrate to them another state of being, and you are opening that door for them.
I have a complex idea behind Karmic debt, but to give it to you easily, this subject and action carries enourmous weight.
Let go, slowly at first if that's what it takes, and without guilt (that is an accumulation of debt as well) and eventually, the Creators wind will gently remove it from your reach.
We are nearing time, and these questions will continue to demand answers from us. Answer them promptly and from the heart and lets begin to live this thing.

Collision Course
Our consumerism is not on a future collision course with the biosphere, it collided the day consumerism was defined and implemented as the economic standard and unit of measure for success. The theory and practice itself is based off a system that is so obviously unsustainable that a grade school student has enough knowledge to label it foolish and ignorant.
We have collided as a species with our only home and are in the process of following through. Sustainability will become our new measuring tool but only in the sense that it dances in relation to consumption. We need to look at our planet and life a different way. Everything we need to survive and flourish is abundantly available to us as long as we work within the confines of common sense.
Life, by definition, struggles to fill every void of our natural world, there is enough to go around. Irrational consumption, waste, and complete lack of respect for life, or respect of life with conditions, are the demons that form the foundation of our troubled world. We must let go of the assumption that Wal-Mart and Visa are providing us a true glimpse of things to come. They are not.
This unstoppable machine we call “the American way” will not abruptly stop and change course, it will break apart and fail.
We need to redefine our values and our role in the universe.

Irrational consumption, waste, and complete lack of respect for life, or respect of life with conditions, are the demons that form the foundation of our troubled world. We must let go of the assumption that Wal-Mart and Visa are providing us a true glimpse of things to come. They are not.
This unstoppable machine we call “the American way” will not abruptly stop and change course, it will break apart and fail.
We need to redefine our values and our role in the universe.

He Has Raised Himself From Man, To God-Man, To God
Excerpt from Baird T. Spalding's "Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East" Vol. 3 Copyright 1935 - pg 56-60
"The cycle is fast closing in which the blind of the whole race have led the blind into a welter of ignorance, superstition, and delusion created by those who believe as human beings think, rather than that which is true and real. The civilization that has risen on the delusions and superstitions of the closing centuries is submerging itself in the welter. Through the pain and tragedy of their misappropriated creations, a new race consciousness has been conceived and is fast evolving. In fact, the door is opening wide for its new birth.
"There is no other course than to go on from one plane of consciousness to a higher and more advanced step in the actual cosmic path. The only condition forbidden in the vibration of the great cosmos is that quality of thought which allows the human race to become so solidly fixed in what it believes that, if it clings desperately to its old delusions and will not let go, it can in no way come into the greater expanse of universal thought. Those thus absorbed in personal consciousness must go on through natural exhaustion of beliefs and experiences until they fail to go forward; then, of its own accord, Absolute Law wields a progressive hand through disease, pain, and loss, until the human is satisfied and turns to find the curse of a false idea within the idea itself.
"Civilization today is fast approaching a great reconstructive moment. All things that seem so stable and well-founded now will soon be immersed in a state of inversion. Every tree that has not been planted by Truth will be uprooted. There is approaching a complete cosmic overthrow of the present social, political, financial and religious institutions that will make room for the placing of the new era in order that humanity may come in closer touch with that which is and was established before the present human consciousness submerged and set it aside. Truth waits on with attentive, loving, and radiant beneficence until man will see that he can embrace and become the consciousness of that which has always existed.
"Humanity is taking a forward step from the cradle stories of the former generation and their individuality and spiritual discernment of the consciousness of the generation that is fast approaching. Delusions, traditions, and superstitions are nearing the end. It is also true of the civilization which they established. The old idols are good enough for the infantile consciousness that is nearing an impasse. Their delusion has caused their undoing as they proved to be only cradle stories woven by a mastercraft of priesthood and preceptor to lull into false sleep the crying infants of an evolving race. Those who saw further afield did not cry and thus were not lulled to sleep. Most of them saw that the cradle stories were not true and many stepped boldly forth to erase the untruth; as they saw directly through to the Absolute, that which has always existed and which has always been seen an and known and contacted directly by a portion of mankind. Form this portion there will arise a new and more vitalizing consciousness, fully awake and ready to erase the idols that man has set up for his fellow man to follow and make room for the new ideals which are as old as creation's dawn.
"There is looming upon the horizon of this new approach a redemption that has an entirely new meaning. This new multitude, coming out of this clearer vision and more definite perception, is redeemed through deeper revelation emanating out of all races and all people. That emanation is the One Life that is in all and through all.
"In spite of the delusion-bound multitude, their clinging hands and cringing attitude, a greater and more noble vista of the expanding horizon of God, the Christ of man, the Christ of God, of Self, and death itself, is looming; and another cycle of spirit is dawning for the whole world. Another age of the Crystal Race is coming up out of the maelstrom.
"Hundreds of millions are re-released with their heart, soul, body, and instinct free. They are the throbbing pulse of an unborn race that is again heir to the ages. I see them stepping across the ages, walking hand in hand with God. Great waves of wisdom flood toward them from the eternal shores of the infinite. They dare to step forth and declare themselves a part of eternal God, eternal Christ, God and man One eternally with eternal life. They dare to step forth and declare to heaven that much that is written by man is a lie and in terrible blindness wrought.
"This new pulse-conscousness is the crest of the wave that rests on the new race-consciousness. This new race sees man, himself, the highest expression on this planet, and one with God through the medium of his life; and it sees that his whole supply flows through that life itself. This race knows that man can live consciously in a perfect universe with perfect people and in perfect accord with perfect situations and conditions, with absolute assurance that there is not an error in the great Spiritual plan of the Cosmos.
"Man sees God as Cosmic Spirit pervading everything; then, with the subtleties of mind through his thought, he does not hesitate to review the fundamentals that have placed him where he is and made him that which he is. Thus he is again one with his sources. He knows that this source is the ever-silent side of his God-mind linked consciously in thought and amalgamated with Infinite Mind.
"This new race understands that, through sun and shadow, without the bitterness, the soul's true quest for Love and ture Peace is the Truth of God and man. This race does not hesitate to strip the swadling clothes of delusion from the whole human race. The gaunt specter which for ages has bound the feet of the weak and doubting ego-man, through his own ignorance, will be completely erased. Quick & Painful
The momentum behind our culture ensures a quick and painful death. Our only hope for saving is Divine Intervention. There is a big problem with that too though. He will only be coming for the righteous. Which puts us right back in the same position we’ve found ourselves in… screwed.
The two choices will become more and more apparent, and the decisions you make will come with greater and greater consequences, for good or bad. Are you going with the status quo and partying up while the ship is sinking, denying or refusing to change? Or are you taking responsibility, no matter the odds, so when the shiznit hits the fan you can stand back and say to everyone “At least I did everything I could.”

Are you going with the status quo and partying up while the ship is sinking, denying or refusing to change? Or are you taking responsibility, no matter the odds, so when the shiznit hits the fan you can stand back and say to everyone “At least I did everything I could.”
Faith?
True faith is not something you have in order to save yourself and avert hell, true faith is something you have in order to save everyone else through deliverance of love and compassion.
In the end, will we be sorry because we screwed ourselves or will we be sorry because we screwed everything else?

How will you define mankind?
Mankind has done horrific things, but that does not define me, and I am mankind. Mankind has killed without love, compassion, or remorse, but that does not define you, and you are mankind.
The Earth has been given the gift of compassion, of altruism, of reason, of thought, of contemplation, of realization of spirit, of selflessness, of perception, of creation through mankind. We are the pinnacle of the evolution of mind, and without us, without this vehicle, the Earth cannot experience the potential divineness of her creation.
Mankind has been given, in return, the gift of will and the freedom to use it as he will. It is your decision how you will define mankind.
Will you define it with hate, hate for the cruel, gruesome things that are done? Will you define it in retribution and revenge, wishing onto others that which you do not wish done unto yourself? Or will you define it with compassion and forgiveness towards all of Earth's creatures, including her own mankind?
We are a wonderful creature, capable of committing divine acts characteristic of a divine creation. Until we begin to see each other in this light, we will continue to flounder in the lack of it.
